Blue Griffin Welcomes Ally Lightle, Account Manager

We’re so excited to announce that Ally Lightle has joined Blue Griffin as our new Account Manager. With an eye for focus and organization, her role is all about streamlining project management and elevating our client experience!

Ally’s Background

Ally brings a background in both public relations and marketing, having worked on both the agency and in-house sides of the industry.

The marketing landscape has changed a lot over that time, from the decline of traditional media to the rise of social platforms, influencer marketing, and AI-generated content. But Ally maintains that while tactics and tools evolve, the fundamentals remain constant: understanding your sales cycle, clarifying your message, and focusing on measurable goals.

Modern marketing projects involve many moving parts – content creation, design, photography, social media, community management, and more. Ally can speak all of these languages and keep everyone on the same page, ensuring that creative visions align with client expectations and business objectives.

The Stars Align!

We’ve had the pleasure of working with Ally as a client on several projects since 2021. We were already looking for project/account management when her former role was restructured at the end of last year, so her application was instantly at the top of our list!

Our unique history provides:

  1. Insider client perspective: Ally spent much of her career in internal marketing management roles. She knows how our clients think and what they need — she was one of them!
  2. Proven team dynamics: Since we’ve been working together for some time, we already had a good synergy and understood how Ally would fit into the team. How cool is that??

What Makes a Successful Agency Partnership?

Ally’s dual experience has given her valuable insights into what makes agency-client relationships truly successful – and what can derail them.

“Whether you’re internal or at an agency, a lot of things become second nature to you. We all have our own lingo and preconceptions, and sometimes it’s hard to get out of that bubble,” Ally shares.

An attentive, proactive account manager can connect both worlds and facilitate a successful partnership.

She says marketing is about true collaboration. The best results come when agencies and clients work with clear communication, defined responsibilities, and mutual accountability.

Building Better Client Partnerships

We can talk about buzzwords like “partnership” and “collaboration” all day, but what does exceptional account management actually look like? Here is how Ally is already upping our game…

Weekly Check-In Emails

“I like to check in with a quick weekly email update, whether it’s on a Friday at the end of the week or a Monday to kick off. We’re just saying, ‘Hey, here’s what we’ve been working on. Here are deadlines that we are aware of, and here are a few things we need from you.’ It doesn’t include the same hard metrics of a report. It’s about anticipating deadlines and eliminating roadblocks before they happen.”

Deadline Management

“It’s extremely important to have sub deadlines to make sure things happen earlier than your actual drop dead date. And it’s been said too many times, but underpromise and over-deliver. The most important thing is to have a really solid line of communication. There’s no ‘gotcha’ moment on either side.”

Depth of Communication

“I’m a big believer in a monthly check-in call for ongoing marketing programs. It’s a valuable time to get a pulse of things that you just don’t think of until you start talking. And it’s important to have multiple contacts within a client organization who can provide different perspectives. They’re not just a backup, they have their own ideas and awareness within their network.”

Processes for Review and Approvals

“Approvals are the number one roadblock in marketing. Everyone is busy. And there’s a hard balance: the more people that have to approve something, the harder it is to actually finish the project. So approvals either need to be done in layers, or that group needs to be shrunk down into just a few people who have final authority to get things done.”

Looking Forward

As Blue Griffin continues to grow, we’re committed to maintaining (and improving!) the personal “micro-agency” feel that makes our client experience what it is. There’s no doubt that Ally’s experience, communication skills, and client-first mindset will help us do that.

Please join me in welcoming Ally to the Blue Griffin team!
